Summer Term - Me and My World
Summer Topic: Me and My World
This summer, our nursery class is exploring the exciting topic of "Me and My World" - a fun and meaningful journey that helps children begin to understand themselves and the world around them.
We start by looking at ourselves, learning to name and point to different parts of our bodies through interactive songs like "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes." These catchy tunes help develop body awareness, language skills, and coordination — and most importantly, they make learning fun!
As part of our topic, we also spend time talking about families, recognising the people who love and care for us. We explore the idea that families can look different for everyone, helping children to feel included, secure, and proud of their own family.
Children are encouraged to share their likes and dislikes - from favourite colours and foods to fun activities and toys. This helps to build self-confidence and learn about the uniqueness of their classmates, celebrating both what makes us special and what we have in common.
And of course, we make the most of the summer season! We enjoy time outdoors, talk about the sunshine and warmer weather, and explore summer themes through stories, crafts, and sensory play.
"Me and My World" is all about helping children feel seen, heard, and valued - giving them the building blocks to grow happy, confident, and kind.
