Welcome to Class R!

We are the Reception class at Cwmaber Infants. Our class teacher is Miss Boanas, our class HLTA is Mrs N Davies and Miss Purslow is our LSA.

This term our Learning Journey is called "Growing and Changing". Reception will be learning all about how they have changed since they were a baby and how things are changing around them, such as the local village of Abertridwr and the weather, linking with the seasons. 

The children will be exploring how water and soil change at different temperature and when mixed with different things, and predicting what they think will happen. 

In Jigsaw this term we are focusing on "Dreams and Goals", discussing the power of trying their best and what they want to be when they grow up, exploring jobs in the community and people who help us.

PE will be on a Monday and this term we are focusing on dance, following a dance unit called "Dance Like A Dino". We will also be learning Welsh folk dancing closer to St Davids Day. Children can come dressed in their PE kit on a Monday. 

We will be doing lots of reading in class so please ensure books are sent with children regularly. We also send home phonics family sounds, word boxes and tricky words for children to practice at home too. 

Learning Log tasks will be provided on a Friday and are required back in school by a Wednesday please. 

We complete lots of Reading Eggs and Doodle Maths activities in class, we recommend that children access these once a week at home to practice their key number skills and literacy skills such as recognising letter, sounds and blending sounds together to make simple words.
