Family Engagement
Parent Forum/Coffee and Chat
Our Parent Forum is led by Mrs Davies, Miss Howells, Mrs Ralph and Mrs Evans, and consists of parent volunteers who meet every half term to discuss various aspects of school life and decide upon areas to develop. These ideas link with the school development plan and explore how to best support parents within different areas of the schools activities e.g. reading strategies, specials needs support, well-being strategies, ways we teach maths, e-safety etc.
The forum is responsible for helping to share the information with parents, pupils, staff and governors of the school.
If you are interested in joining please come along to one of our meetings.
We look forward to working closely with you to further develop the school community and partnerships.
Family and Community Engagement Officer
Hello. My name is Miss Leanne Howells and I am the Deputy Head at Cwmaber Junior School. I have recently been appointed as the school’s Family and Community Engagement Officer.
As part of this role I will be running regular ‘Informal Coffee and Chat’ sessions enabling parents/carers to come in and speak to me about any concerns/issues or advice needed on home or school issues. These sessions will run during morning and afternoon times to accommodate all parents/carers.
I also encourage parents/carers to ring the school (02920 832231) at any time during the day to speak to me directly regarding any issues/concerns etc. you may have. If for any reason I am unavailable then please leave a message and I will contact you as soon as possible.
I have recently run ‘Reading Eggs/Mathletics’ workshops for parents/carers which promotes exciting and engaging online reading and maths support programmes for your children to access at home and in school at no cost to parents/carers. If you wish to obtain any further information about these programmes please do not hesitate to contact me.
‘Family Learning’ are currently running a fun and engaging Maths intervention programme for parents/carers and pupils every Thursday afternoon from 1-3pm. These workshops provide an opportunity for you to work alongside your child through exciting maths activities. All parents/carers welcome.
Mrs. Davies and I have also set up a ‘Parent/Carer Working Party’ where parents/carers are able to sit formally with myself and Mrs. Davies to strengthen home/school partnerships. The first meeting was held in the Autumn Term and the minutes are available on the website. The next meeting will be held during this Spring Term and a text will be sent to remind parents/carers of the date and time etc.
Please feel free to contact me if you require any bespoke workshops to enhance partnerships between home and school.
Look forward to welcoming all parents/carers.
Many Thanks
Miss Leanne Howells
(Deputy Head/Family/Community Engagement Officer)
