Creative catchers
Creative Catchers is led by Miss Brace and Mrs Smith, with pupils taking an active role in planning trips, visits, and inviting visitors linked to our termly themes. The group helps to nurture creativity throughout the school, promoting Art, Music, Dance, Drama, and Film.
Last year, as part of our focus on Art within the Expressive Arts area of learning, the Creative Catchers chose to invite Welsh artist Rhiannon Roberts to our school. On October 1st, 2024, she worked with our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils to create a stunning mural celebrating our local area. This wonderful artwork is proudly displayed in our entrance for everyone to enjoy!
This term, the children have set up a Creative After-School Club to further develop creativity across the school. They have also helped to enhance the creative areas within classrooms, ensuring these spaces provide rich, hands-on experiences inspired by Froebelian principles. To maintain this, the children will carry out a termly learning walk to observe how creative areas are being used.
The Creative Catchers are also passionate about our ‘Create’ Branching-Out Challenges, which encourage all pupils to explore, create, and respond—developing imagination, confidence, and a love of expressive arts.
