Block Play

Block Play

Block Play is designed to inspire the pupils imagination by having open choices and possibilities on what they can create either independently or as a team.

It also enforces learning such as shapes, creativity, turn taking, working as a team, listening skills, critical thinking, taking risks and helps them further understand the world around them.

Block Play is centered around "The Stages of Block Play" which are progressive throughout the school

Both open ended activities and specific challenges are provided for the children to complete, depending on the week.

When a Branching Out Challenge is set for the children, a WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) is provided for the children to either copy, model or change depending on the level of challenge they provide for themselves. They are encouraged to work as a team when completing these challenges to develop and build on essential social skills such as turn taking, asking for opinions and being open to suggestions from other pupils.

They then upload the work they compete to SeeSaw, which can be viewed by the linked home accounts, so you can see the writing they have completed.
