Fine Motor (Clay and Playdough)
Fine Motor (Clay and Playdough and more)
The fine motor area of the classroom is to promote and emphasise the importance of developing children fine motor skills, such as finger grasping, squeezing, stretching and pulling for the development of pre writing skills, hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
These activities encourage children to explore shapes, sizes, and spatial relationships while building using play dough, clay and other fine motor equipment such as bead, scissors, puzzles and much more,
Using play as a motivator to develop these skills allows the children to learn and develop holistically within the classroom, which will benefit them when working on pencil grip, writing and other day to day essentials, such as packing their own bag, doing up shoes, zips and buttons.
Open ended Branching Out Activities as well as directed Branching Out Challenges are set for the children weekly. A WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) is provided for the children to copy or change depending on the level of challenge they give themselves.
The children then upload the challenges they complete to SeeSaw which can then be viewed at home once you have linked with their pupil account
